Arrest warrant issued against suspect in Lieutenant Colonel Rabih Kahil’s murder

First Military Investigation Magistrate, Riad Abou Ghida issued on Monday an arrest warrant against detainee Elie Daou in the murder of Lebanese Armed Forces Commando Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Rabih Kahil.

Daou's representative, lawyer Riad Matar, said he will appeal the judge’s ruling within 24 hours, underscoring his client's innocence.

Last Thursday, State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr reportedly charged two suspects with the murder of Lieutenant Colonel Rabih Kahil. Hisham Daou was charged with opening fire at officer four times -hitting him in the leg, and Elie was pinned as an accessory to murder.

The case was then referred to the military examining magistrate for further investigations.

Kahil died in hospital on Wednesday (August 05) after succumbing to wounds he sustained in a shooting in the Bdadoun town three days ago.
