Environment Minister Machnouq says results of waste management tenders moved up

Minister of Environment Nouhad Machnouq said on Sunday that the announcement of the winners in waste management tenders in Beirut and Mount Lebanon will be moved up to Monday, in an a bid to calm protesters.

"The bidding results will be moved to Monday instead of Tuesday," Machnouq said in a statement issued by his media office.

He pointed out that his move came on a backdrop of a request by Prime Minister Tammam Salam to redouble efforts to solve Lebanon's waste crisis.
