Introduction to the evening news 09-03-2012
The most prominent issues that made it till the end of this week were, domestically, the issue of billions that almost reached its end with the finance minister’s suggestion. However, General Aoun’s objection brought the debate back to square one, prompting the cabinet to throw the fireball to PM Najib Mikati. On the international level, the Syrian situation remained unchanged; in fact, the regime’s military option in Baba Amro did not bring back stability to Syria, and the opposition figures’ transition to other sites will not improve their positions. Meanwhile, all eyes are on the discussions that U.N.-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan will hold in Damascus tomorrow.

Before going into these details, between the internal and international deadlocks, we stop at what is now called the “Ethiopian domestic worker’s case” raised by LBCI yesterday on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

The case took humanitarian, political and legal dimensions to the point that it became an emergency item on the cabinet’s table, on the sidelines of its agenda. LBCI followed up on this case today by going into details, based on the rejection of human beings that impose their punishment on others, indifferently to the laws and values.
