Shop owners cut off on Wednesday the main road in the town of Bekaata-Chouf with burning piles of garbage to protest the accumulation of waste in front of their shops.
The protesters said the environmental crisis continues to affect the commercial activity in the region, due to the foul smells produced by the piles of waste spread across the town, calling for immediate action to avoid further damages.
Lebanon has been grappling with a waste crisis following the July 17 closure of the Naameh landfill.
This has led to the piling up of garbage on the streets of the capital and other areas.
