Introduction to the evening news 15-03-2012

Today the saying “there is no turning back” echoed both in some domestic issues, mainly the rotten foodstuffs issue, and in some external issues, mainly the Syrian crisis.         

Rotten foodstuffs are in tons and their consumers, whether informed or victims are in dozens and include hotels, restaurants and supermarkets. Citizens are divided between those who are careful not to slander and those who are attempting to leak inaccurate and fabricated lists via SMS or e-mail, versus lists of the outlets against which final verdicts were issued; these verdicts were later remarkably reduced.    

Amid this hubbub, we will try to reveal the names of the outlets against which verdicts were issued after corruption reached our daily meals, as Speaker Berri said today at the parliament. This issue will not go back to the way it was given that foodstuffs turned into consumer goods for which citizens are paying only to absorb poison, not nutrients.    

At the international level, today marks the first anniversary of the Syrian uprising. The regime is acting as if it was confident that it overcame the internal military situation and the western diplomatic embargo, and that it regained the initiative with no turning back. Meanwhile, the opposition considers that the regime’s fall is inevitable with no turning back.
