Introduction to the evening news 16-04-2012

Six international observers kicked off their missions in Syria, a step that Reuters considered as “an experimental presence of the U.N. at the heart of the Syrian crisis”.          

The mission is led by Moroccan Colonel Ahmed Himmiche who said that observers will prepare themselves for the mission as soon as possible.           

This test is a first of its kind in Syria’s modern history as international forces are positioned in central Damascus. It coincides with the continuing military escalation as activists announced that four people were killed today in Idlib. Meanwhile, an announcement was made from Istanbul regarding the establishment of an Assembly of Tribes which has been said to represent over 40% of the total number of tribes in Syria.         

In Lebanon, all eyes are on the Nejmeh Square to follow up on the debate that will start tomorrow and last until next Thursday.           

Meanwhile, in an escalating step, Lebanon’s bakeries announced they will go on strike as of Thursday evening.       

As for the PAC employees’ mobilization, a delegation visited Labor Minister Salim Jreissaty; a report on the visit will be aired later in the course of the bulletin.
