Gemayel: Hezbollah controls two authorities

Kataeb Central Committee coordinator MP Samy Gemayel said Thursday during a press conference that the past three months haven proven that Hezbollah operates as a mini-state grounded upon the concept of Resistance.

“Hezbollah has the final say in Lebanon and is controlling two authorities: the Lebanese state and its own mini-state”, Gemayel said, adding the party has entered a new critical phase with regard to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

“Hezbollah has fallen into a trap when it denied that the Time interview never happened, a statement that implies that it maintains contact with the suspects”, Gemayel said, adding Hezbollah’s method of rule is reminiscent of Syria's tutelage.

Gemayel also drew a parallel between Hezbollah and Israel. Stating,“Hezbollah is adopting Israel’s irredentist policy by buying up strategic lands,” Gemayel made reference to both parties’ rejection of international resolutions as well as more religious references regarding their shared belief of being the “Chosen ones”.

Gemayel closed the press conference with a message directed to Hezbollah: “We can not accept your weapons, project or ideology, but we also can not accept building this state without you.”
