Social Security-covered patients still waiting at the doorstep of hospitals

The GLC, Social Security Fund’s Board, and the Committee for Sustainable Dialogue held a meeting at the Labor Ministry Monday to look into developing a financial coverage scheme for the new hospital tariffs - as refusal by hospitals to admit patients covered by social security continue.

Exclusive sources told LBCI that it has been suggested to raise the ceiling of Social Security subscriptions from 1 million to 1.5 million LBP.

However, employers refused the raise, and for its part asked that the state pay its arrears that amount up to 830 billion LBP to the Social Security Fund. They also demanded that the Social Security Fund be reformed by cutting nonproductive elements and undisclosed companies.

The Social Security Fund’s Board of Directors called for a meeting on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the matter of increasing subscriptions.

Another meeting has also been set by opposing economic committees to prevent the adoption of this decision.
