How did the different Lebanese factions receive Jaafari’s message to Ban Ki Moon?

Well-informed sources told LBCI that the latest statements made by Syria’s envoy to the U.N. before the Security Council aimed at tagging Lebanon as a terrorist country, adding that the envoy took advantage of the widening local political divisions.   

As PM Najib Mikati said that Jaafari’s statements fuel conflicts, sources close to him told LBCI that Lebanon is sparing no effort to protect its borders.         

The Future bloc said that Syria is trying to export its deepening crisis to Lebanon in order to divert attention from its failure to repress the growing Syrian revolution.        

In this regard, Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat told LBCI that Jaafari’s message shows that the Syrian regime has reached the stage of bankruptcy, adding that the Future bloc has no militia. Fatfat stressed his support to the Syrian people.        

For his part, north politician Khaldoun al Sharif told LBCI that the reports relied upon by Jaafari were published in the media adding that parts of them are true, while other parts are not. Sharif said that this message wronged Lebanon and made it look like a center of terrorism.         

Jaafari’s positions are expected to prompt more reactions in the coming days; however, there is some kind of a consensus in Lebanon that this issue should not have been raised before the U.N. Security Council.
