Rai celebrates Mass in Paris

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai said Sunday while celebrating Mass in Paris that he is very pleased to be present among the Lebanese expatriates in France under the request of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, extending the greetings of Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir.

Rai said that his visit to Paris is part of an old tradition according to which a newly elected patriarch is officially invited to France in a bid to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between both countries, adding his visit to France paves the way for possible talks with French senior officials on the Lebanese issues and the geopolitical changes facing the Middle East countries.
