Aintoura School asks for severe media accuracy
The administration of Saint Joseph School Aintoura has asked all media outlets on Sunday to practice utmost accuracy and professionalism while covering the case of its recently fired 23 year old teacher suspected of sexually assaulting 11 students. The school also announced that it will be having a normal school day on Monday, and that it will be delivering letters of explanation to all parents.
The administration added in a statement that some media sources mishandled the story and portrayed it in the frame of media slandering.
The school confirmed that it is leaving the case up to the judiciary in light of developments that have followed since the story’s broadcast.
Eleven girls, whose age ranges between six and eight years, fell victim to their 23 year old teacher’s sexual assault at the renowned Catholic school in Mount Lebanon.
The teacher is said to have harassed the girls, forcing them to undergo nude photo sessions.
The story was revealed by chance when one of the girls told her parents of her art teacher’s abusive acts. The 6-year-old girl told her mother that her teacher had tried to lift her skirt and place his body against hers.
The school forced the teacher to resign pending the results of the investigation. As for the parents, four of them decided to file a lawsuit against the assaulter while other parents are waiting for their daughters to undergo psychological treatment prior to subjecting them to a coroner’s examination.
The teacher, accused of sexually harassing 11 minor students, was transferred to Our Lady of Lebanon Hospital on Saturday after having a car accident.
While the causes of the accident remain unknown, information emerged on the possibility that the teacher, who is currently receiving treatment amid tight security measures, had attempted to commit suicide.
