GWU calls for revival of Social and Economic Council

The General Workers Union have described the resumption of national dialogue, as a real chance to overcome the political and security risks facing the country, both because of the nature of political and sectarian lineups and regional changes. However, the Union considered that any political dialogue, no matter how clear its intentions, will remain restricted from presenting real solutions to problems plaguing the nation, unless the root causes of these problems were addressed.

The GWU stressed on the need to revive the Economic and Social Council adding that the rebirth of the Council and amending its rules of procedure to improve working mechanisms, should be the main priorities of the national dialogue.
