MPs reach agreement on expenditure issue

Different parties at the parliament reached agreement on the expenditure issue during Monday's legislative session.

The second round of the legislative session resumed Monday evening to discuss the expenditure-related draft law.

The evening session saw the participation of Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun.

Speaker Nabih Berri earlier adjourned the first session at 2:45 p.m. provided that the expenditure issue will be discussed during the evening session. Discussions of the traffic-related draft law were also postponed until the evening session after the topic was over flooded with discussions.

A meeting was held in between both sessions in order to reach an agreement on the expenditure issue.

Following the meeting, which was attended by Berri, PM Najib Mikati, Siniora, Deputy Parliament Speaker Farid Makari and MP Georges Adwan, the prime minister described the morning session as “productive”, hoping that the expenditure draft law will be approved during the evening session.
