“Lara K”, the latest social media star

Pop stars in Lebanon and the Arab world are nothing new, inspired by the likes of Haifa Wehbe who gained success and fame in record time.

And so, the new kid on the block is Lara, a Lebanese woman, quickly turned “social media star” thanks to her song entitled “Katalouli al ahlam” (they killed my dreams). Lara also publishes videos of her daily life in what resembles episodes of a reality TV show.

Lara aka “Lara K” is not the first social media star in the Arab world and may not be the last, especially amid the growing influence of social media websites that are proving vital in the success of those singers.
