ISF officers wounded in Bekaa ambush

Two Lebanese officers were wounded when their two-car convoy patrolling the western Bekaa village of Jalala, near Chtaura came under a hail of bullets from a Mercedes car which was stolen on Jalala-Chtoura Bridge hours before the attack on the patrol.

According to reports, the officers identified as Joseph al Ashkar and Elias Nasrallah, both members of the ISF’s Information Branch, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Nasrallah received several gunshot wounds in his belly and head while Ashkar was in a critical condition.

Following the attack, the stolen car took Damascus international highway fleeing to an unknown destination.

The security forces increased their presence at the scene of the incident and efforts are underway to arrest the assailants.
