Egypt and Beirut, beacons in the dark
The electricity crisis was not limited to Lebanon but included Egypt which is also living in total darkness. In the past few months, both Lebanese and Egyptians are chanting “The people wants electricity”.

Egyptians and Lebanese found no better place to vent off than social media platforms where they are voicing their discontent.

According to Egyptians, the one to blame for the electricity crisis is President Mohammad Mursi at a time when the Lebanese do not miss an opportunity to blame the one and only Gibran Bassil who is, according to Facebook and Twitter users, responsible for the worsening electricity crisis.

For this purpose, Lebanese citizens created a new hashtag entitled “#BlameBassil” that they are using sarcastically to blame Minister Bassil for everything, including their most banal daily problems.
