Will the dialogue committee convene in Beiteddine on August 16?

President Michel Sleiman is intensifying his calls to confirm the dialogue session’s date and agenda where the first item will be the defense strategy.        
Despite the limited distance between Moukhtara and Beiteddine, MP Walid Jumblatt says participating in the dialogue session depends on the timing and the conditions. March 8 powers did not change its supporting position, while March 14 forces are still hesitating.             

Lebanese Forces are still convinced that the dialogue is useless as long as Hezbollah refuses to discuss the issue related to its weapons. The Kataeb President Amin Gemayel and Fouad Siniora may participate, while the Future bloc is divided in two camps.          

In this context, Future bloc MP Ahamd Fatfat told LBCI that the last speech of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah shows that he is the only one allowed to give his opinion regarding the defense strategy and the arms. Fatfat pointed that Nasrallah does not take into consideration that he has partners.              

Fatfat added that handing over the telecom data is very important, but the cabinet still have to provide March 14 leaders with protection. “Is Hezbollah ready to hand over the suspects, including Mohammad Hayek, summoned for interrogation in the assassination attempt of MP Boutros Harb?” he asked.                   

Fatfat said that the dialogue will be useless if Hezbollah does not have a clear position as to the implementation of the dialogue’s decisions, noting that March 14 seeks a unified position on August 16.
