Assir lauds Information Division during Friday sermon
The Imam of the Bilal Bin Rabbah Mosque, Sheikh Ahmad Assir's, delivered his Friday sermon from the Jdideh Road, defying Dar al-Fatwa's  directives.

Al-Akhbar Daily earlier reported that Dar al-Fatwa insisted on the speaker of Imam Ali Ben Abi Taleb Mosque Sheikh Zakaria al Ghandour not to allow Sheikh Ahmad Assir to deliver his Friday sermon today even if the latter demanded so.

In his speech, Assir lauded the information division for its achievement with regards to the case of former Minister Michel Samaha.

Addressing the Free Syrian Army, Assir said “May God grant you victory”, adding that “the Syrian revolution is true and relies on the power of God”.

“We stand by you till our last breath”, Assir said in a clear reference to the Syrian opposition.

“Our brothers in Syria are an example of freedom, dignity and the rise against oppression”, he added.

Assir pointed out that the “criminal regime” in Syria has fallen, “but the Russian-Chinese VETO and Iran are trying to revive it”. Assir added that the Iranian project has always deceived public opinion in the region. “To the charlatan Iranian project we say: the mask has fallen and the new plan for epitomizes through the free people’s will”, he said.

Al-Assir said that the Syrian-Iranian scheme does not represent the resistance but in truth is a project based on deaths and assassinations, adding “when they could not assassinate MP Boutros Harb, they asked one of their agents to bring the explosives in his own car” he said, implying at Former Minister Michel Samaha.

“We will no longer tolerate the hegemony of extra state weapons in Lebanon; we stress that we want to live in peace with all confessions”, Assir said. "Christians should not fear Muslims but should fear instead the criminal Bashar al-Assad", he concluded.
