Fabius expresses solidarity with Lebanon, hopes Syria will be free

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said that it is necessary to protect Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence amid current events.

Upon his arrival to Beirut’s international airport, Fabius said that “we want Syria free, Arab countries must support Syrian political transition”.

The Minister shall start his visit by meeting with his Lebanese counterpart, Minister Adnan Mansour, to meet with House Speaker Nabih Berri later on.

Also, Fabius will convene with Premier Najib Mikati upon the latter's invitation to an Iftar Banquet.

The meeting between Fabius and the Lebanese President is scheduled to take place on the second day of the visit around 9:30 a.m.
