Waste management plan on cabinet session’s agenda

Defense Minister Elias Bou Saab voiced surprise over some remarks criticizing the statement of President Michel Aoun.

Speaking prior to the cabinet session at the Grand Serail, Bou Saab said: “It is our right to defend our nation and the policy statement mentions that it is every citizen’s right to defend their land.”

For his part, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil answered a question about President Aoun’s statement on Monday, saying that “they stand by the president.”

In turn, Public Works and Transportation Minister Youssef Finianos commented on President Aoun’s position by saying that “his words are second to none.”

On another note, Environment Minister Fadi Jreissati hoped that the cabinet session will tackle several matters, including the waste plan. “I do not think anyone will object to the plan to resolve the waste issue,” he added.

For her part, State Minister for Administrative Development May Chidiac believed that the waste plan will be done today, pointing out that discussions could be completed next week since there are some objections over a number of locations.
