Geagea meets with US official Schenker in Maarab

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea met on Wednesday with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker in Maarab.

The US official was accompanied by his deputy Joel Rayburn and US Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard.

The meeting was also attended by MP Strida Geagea, LF’s political foreign affairs advisor Elie Khoury and LF Party's External Relations Section Head Elie el-Hindi.

In a chat with reporters, Geagea answered a question about whether the meeting tackled the demarcation of the borders by saying: Until now, they are still in the process of reaching a clear framework for negotiation, and work is underway on reaching solutions to disparities in this regard."

Asked whether the US official tackled the official Lebanese position on UN Security Council Resolution 1701, Geagea stressed that "the US envoy is not reassured about the security situation as a whole due to events in the past weeks."

He also noted that he is still waiting for President Michel Aoun’s answer regarding the recent stances of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
