Safadi explains his project, talks about motivations to propose fragmentation of the raise

The Union Coordinating Committee mentioned escalatory steps until the fifth of September to exert pressure on the government and competent authorities to approve the pay scale and the high cost of living.           

A delegation from the committee held a meeting with Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi, whereby the delegation insisted on its demands. The head of the Teachers Syndicate Nehme Mahfoud stressed that the issue of the teachers’ pay scale should be dealt with with the same standard applied for all other civil servants.           

Safadi told LBCI that wages were increased by 1.6 trillion LBP per annum, adding that such an increase is negative considering the circumstances. “The Ministry will begin making compensation payments to public servants to balance out the high cost of living as of the first of February up until the end of September”, he said.                

It is noteworthy that the Union Coordinating Committee will hold a meeting on Friday at 2:30 in the afternoon to discuss its escalatory moves before the fifth of September.
