Ready-to-use rocket launchers in Tripoli

The councils of both Bab el-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen confirmed that the choice of weapons has expanded beyond measure on the field. In a meeting between security officials and representatives of some factions participating in the fights, the officers were informed that Tripoli houses 106 or 107 mm rocket launchers that are ready to use when necessary.    

According to well-informed sources, the fighters and field leaders in Tripoli’s Syria Street are seriously talking about these rocket launchers made in Korea, and despite the fact that arms dealers remain at a distance, they revealed the existence of different types of heavy machine guns.      

In this regard, military experts and sources from the Syria Street front stressed that these launchers are useless in such a fight “since it is not a street war and since the proximity between both rival camps makes heavy weapon use futile”. According to these experts, the most useful equipment in this case would include night vision binoculars and certain types of rifles, and bullets, couple with military expertise and training.    

Military experts considered that the rocket launchers are there either for intimidation purposes or for the expansion of the confrontation from Syria Street to other streets in Tripoli.
