Introduction to the evening news 28-08-2012

The week started with Asmaa Abou Al Laban’s tragedy. The little Syrian girl from Daraya who held a sign saying: “Dear God, let the Syrian revolution triumph before my turn comes”. But her turn came today with 300 others who passed away in a hideous massacre that went unnoticed.         

Another terrified little girl in Daraya appeared today on “Dunya TV”. The girl appeared to be lying beside the body of her dead mother as the TV reporter bombarded her with horrifying questions: “Who is the woman next to you? Do you know what happened to you?”          

The little girl appears not to be aware of what’s going on but the reporter does. Just like the militants in Tripoli who are perfectly aware of their actions and how they are affecting the city and the children on its front lines.         

In Tripoli, children are the ones forming military wings whose innocence has been ripped at a very young age. They wear black masks and play the game of death and hate.       

The clashes in Tripoli have ceased until further notice but the two parties dominating the Lebanese political scene will be the ones to profit should they resume.         

As for Tripoli’s development funds they remain stagnant awaiting the election season.        

The frontline children in Tripoli deserve a better life, as do the children of Syria. Just like the sons of the Lebanese who remain detained in Syrian prisons. Those who hope to meet their families once again.
