Director General for Political Affairs at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Richard Moore met on Monday with caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, where he stressed his country’s commitment to supporting Lebanon and its readiness to exert every effort possible to maintain stability and prevent any scenario that could shake the country’s security and stability.
Moore also hoped that the government would be formed as soon as possible in a bid to implement the much-needed reforms and to spare Lebanon any financial or economic collapse.
Separately, Minister Bassil met with Papal Ambassador Joseph Spiteri, who expressed his deep concern over the ill-fated developments in Lebanon. He reiterated Pope Francis's statement which says that "dialogue means the ability to listen to the other."
