Mufti Kabbani: invisible hands behind takfeer phenomenon

Asharq al Awsat daily quoted the Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Kabbani on Thursday as saying that the custodian should release punitive measures against “kuffar” to ensure the unity of the nation, adding that limiting the release of punitive measure to the judiciary or the Mufti helps curb the proliferation of takfeer stirred by those with particular political orientations.

Sheikh Kabbani added, during his participation in the international conference on Takfeer held in Medina, that there are invisible hands behind the “takfeer” phenomenon that do not hold the best interests of Islam and Muslims in mind, yet they are acting under the pretext of serving Islam.
