Berri: I do not oppose Christian consensus on the electoral law

The weekly Wednesday meeting held by House Speaker Nabih Berri focused on the electoral law following the referral of the law proposed by the Change and Reform Bloc to parliamentary committees.

MPs quoted Berri stressing emphasis on the committee to convene soon in order to begin studying the project and the proposal, contending that the project, to be approved by the government stays in line with the standard set within the Taif accord.

Deputies also quoted Berri as saying that he does not oppose Christian consensus on a standard format for the new election law.
