Harb to LBCI: smaller districts do not contradict with the Taef agreement
In a phone call with LBCI Nharkom Said TV Show, MP Boutros Harb said that “the smaller districts draft law is the best proposal to assure a just representation of national fusion”, stressing that this law does not contradict with the Taef agreement.

Harb added that in case the smaller districts draft law will not be endorsed, the March 14 bloc will approve the proportionality representation law, stressing that it remains superior to that of the 60s’ law despite the risks involving the application of the new electoral system.

Harb also revealed that March 14 leaders have a common perspective concerning the smaller districts and that communication with MP Walid Jumblatt has not stopped, emphasizing that the Future Movement fully supports the smaller districts proposal.

According to Harb, the discussions around the electoral law will be launched next Thursday, pointing out that the first two clauses which are causing conflict are pending discussion.
