Rai: Lebanon cannot ignore UNSC resolutions

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai said that Lebanon cannot ignore U.N. Security Council resolutions, calling on all parties to look ahead into the future.

“The region is going through a critical phase”, Rai said during a mass he led in Al-Saydeh (Our Lady) Church in Hasbaya, calling on all Lebanese parties to resume dialogue.

“The main purpose of my visit to the South is to call for “love and partnership”.

On the second day of his southern tour, Rai visited the al-Bayada retreats in Hasbaya, where he said that God gave the Lebanese a great fortune in their diversity.

Rai reiterated his commitment to preserve Lebanese families with their religions, confessions and diversity.

Minister Wael Abu Faour described Rai’s visit to the south and to the al-Bayada retreats as “historic” and as a completion to Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir’s historical reconciliation between the different Christian parties.
