President Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that “achieving justice in the assassination of Prime Minister Rafic Hariri and his companions responds to everyone's desire in revealing the circumstances of this heinous crime that threatened the stability and civil peace in Lebanon, and attacked a patriotic figure who had its supporters and national project.”
Aoun called for the verdict issued today by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon to be an occasion to remember the stances of later prime minister Rafic Hariri and his permanent calls to unity, solidarity and to join efforts in order to protect Lebanon from any attempt to stir up sedition, mainly that one of Hariri’s sentence was that “no one is greater than his country.
President Aoun voiced his hopes that justice would be achieved in many crimes that targeted leaders that have a great place in the hearts of the Lebanese people, whose absence from the Lebanese political scene left a great void.
