Vatican Secretary of State Parolin tours officials

President Michel Aoun met on Friday with Secretary of the Vatican State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

During the meeting, Aoun Lebanon's gratitude to Pope Francis for his initiative to dedicate this Friday a day of prayer and fasting for Lebanon.

"One month after the port catastrophe, we remember the martyrs who have fallen, the injured, and the people who have lost their livelihoods. We affirm that justice will be served to everyone who is responsible or negligent. This is the right of the Lebanese who have been united by the disaster and pain," Aoun said.

For his part, Parolin said that Pope Francis “gives great importance to Lebanon,” stressing that Lebanon is not alone and that there is international support for the reconstruction of Beirut.

He then headed to Bkerke to meet with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai.
