Judge Oueidat steps down from Beirut port probe
State Prosecutor Judge Ghassan Oueidat announced on Monday that he stepped down from the Beirut port probe due to the existence of kinship between him and former minister Ghazi Zoueiter (his brother in law) and which Judicial Investigator Judge Fadi Sawan indicted him, according to the state-run National News Agency.
According to the law, the authority to pursue the investigation within the public prosecution’s role rests with public attorney, Judge Ghassan el-Khoury, who will follow up on the investigation.
