Introduction to the evening news 22-10-2012

While Jennifer Shdid, the 10 year old girl was opening her eyes in the intensive care room after surviving Achrafieh's explosion, 9 year old Jana Kamal al-Din was bidding farewell to her hometown Tripoli after being shot by sniper fire.                

The two girls' only sin is that they were born in a country that wants them to get used to assassinations, blocked roads, and snipers.                

Beirut's events yesterday ended with the sound of bullets and started today with blocked roads. Although the army managed to reopen them the situation is far from being normal.                  
As for Tripoli, sniping operations are continuous despite the LAF's firm intervention.              

Politically, the country is witnessing 2 demonstrations calling for the Cabinet's resignation: one before PM Najib Mikati's residence in Tripoli and another in Riad al-Solh Square close to the Grand Serail.              

Unlike the year 2005, calls for the Cabinet's resignation don't seem to be supported by foreign countries.                  

After the visit of the French and British Ambassadors to the Baabda Palace in the wake of Brigadier General Wissam al-Hassan's assassination, ambassadors of the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council expressed from the Presidential Palace their support for the current Cabinet.
