Deputy Prime Minister and Caretaker Minister of National Defense Zeina Akar met on Monday with UNIFIL Commander Major General Stefano Del Col.
During the meeting, Akar condemned the abduction of Lebanese shepherd Hassan Zahra, as well as the continuous Israeli violations of the Lebanese sovereignty.
Minister Akar also emphasized during her meeting with General Del Col "the need to cease the aggressions and violations by the Israeli enemy, as well as Lebanon’s rejection of any violation of its sovereignty by land, air and sea,” as per a statement by the Ministry’s press office.
She also stressed that the Israeli side should implement international resolutions, mainly UN resolution No. 1701 in all its articles.
She also hailed the efforts deployed by the UNIFIL in cooperation and coordination with the Lebanese army in addressing these matters.
Discussion also tackled the spread of Coronavirus and its repercussions and the possibility of the countries participating in the UNIFIL of providing medical aid to residents of south Lebanon.
