Introduction to the evening news 07-11-2012

"It doesn’t matter whether you’re black or white or Hispanic or Asian or Native American or young or old or rich or poor, able, disabled, gay or straight, you can make it here in America if you’re willing to try." These were Obama's words to the American people after his reelection as US President. He tried through these words to re-launch the "American Dream" during times where economic crisis is affecting the whole world.

Obama's "La vie en rose" promises are not applicable in the Middle East, where only nightmares dominate the nightly dreams.

The worst nightmare remains the violence in Syria which caused the death of more than 37,000 people.

The "nightmare" turns to be more "awful" with Israel warning of any changes that could occur in the Golan border region, and Turkey announcing that NATO was preparing to deploy Patriot missiles on the borders with Syria.

In Lebanon, the cabinet is still discussing sources to finance the ranks and salaries pay scale, while the Syndicate Coordination Committee threatened to declare a general strike if the pay scale law will not be endorsed tonight and then referred to the parliament.

Meanwhile, hotels and restaurants owners blocked roads, in a first step to express their rejection of the non-smoking law that was recently enforced.
