Sheikh Zgheib: those exploiting the abductees’ file are accomplices

Sheikh Abbas Zgheib, appointed by the Higher Islamic Shiite Council to pursue the issue of the Lebanese detained in Syria, said that some Lebanese parties “wish to exploit the case of the kidnapped for personal means in hopes of leading the government to resign.”

In an interview with the National News Agency Zgheib said that any faction that wants to take advantage of the abductees issue is a partner in the kidnapping adding, “We will not accept blackmail”.

“The Turks are first and foremost responsible for this situation.”

Eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 20th of May in Syria.
Only two have been released so far.
