Mikati: We cannot afford taking uncalculated risks

Mikati said on Thursday via Twitter: "We understand the workers’ pleas however we must consider the entire country’s economic stability."

"We cannot afford taking uncalculated risks that may deal a hard blow to the economy," he added.

"We are currently studying the necessary incomes to finance the scale and give the employees their rights without shaking the monetary balance and exposing the productive sectors to more burdens," Mikati stated in his last tweet.

Mikati's words coincided with the Syndicates Coordination Committee's call for a strike after the cabinet failed on Wednesday to endorse the ranks and salaries pay scale.
