Introduction to the evening news 08-11-2012

When Washington increased its criticism against the Syrian Opposition, the Syrian President Bashar Assad decided to lift the ceiling of challenge with Western states, warning them against any potential attack on Syria.

In an exclusive interview, aired by Russia Today Channel, Assad said that “any "foreign invasion of Syria would be bigger than the entire world can bear.” However, Assad said that he did not see the West embarking on a military intervention in Syria, describing Syria as the last bastion for secularism.

While the Syrian opposition’s meetings continue in Doha in order to unify its ranks, teachers and civil servants in Lebanon find themselves deprived from any support from the government or the opposition.

In this context, today’s strike came in protest against the delay in referring the pay scale draft law to the Parliament, and was described as the most successful of all previous strikes called for by the Syndicate Coordination Committee. As for the cabinet which was hesitating over the funding resources, its hesitation grew because of the inflation which could be caused by the scale.
