Defense Minister Selim meets with LAF Commander Aoun

Defense Minister Maurice Selim met on Tuesday with Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Major General Joseph Aoun who was heading a delegation from the military council on a New Year's congratulatory visit to Selim.

The minister highlighted the military's critical role in ensuring the country's security, stability, and the protection of its citizens during these exceptional times, as well as the efforts made to alleviate the financial hardships that troops and their families are experiencing.

During the meeting, they also discussed the general situation in Lebanon, as well as the efforts and sacrifices made by the military personnel in order to maintain peace and security.

Selim also met with Major General Ali Hajj who was recently appointed as Head of the Military Court.

The minister provided Hajj with the essential instructions about the importance of establishing the principles of fairness, impartiality, and equality in the examination of files, as well as ensuring that conclusions are issued quickly.

Selim also considered that justice could only be achieved through the rule of law, free of discretion and double standards in order to keep the military court a unique edifice of law, dispensing justice in its rulings and providing justice for each and every defendant.
