Environment Minister meets Turkish counterpart

Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin met on Wednesday his Turkish counterpart Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum where they held talks on the possible cooperation in the issues of solid waste management and beach pollution.

The two ministers agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding and to form a joint working group to follow up on the decisions of the bilateral meeting.

Minister Yassin also met Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli and asked for technical support in the prevention of forest fires.

This issued was also discussed in the expanded meeting which was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Najib Mikati, where the Turkish side promised to assist in training civil defense teams in addition to exchanging experiences in the field of early warning systems.
