Mikati: Syrian uprising having a minimal impact on Lebanon

PM Najib Mikati said that the Syrian uprising is having a minimal impact on Lebanon, adding that the cabinet deals with every political and economic issue with the national unity at heart.

During a meeting with a delegation from the National Media Council headed by Abdul Hadi Mahfuz, PM Mikati said that the media sector in Lebanon needs to undergo an objective assessment that will involve the government and media institutions.

“Freedom of the press is a democratic pillar enshrined in the constitution”, Mikati said.

Mikati met with a delegation from Baalbek- Hermel MPs bloc to discuss development projects for the region and the need to control the Lebanese-Syrian border.

Mikati discussed with the head of the Middle East Airlines Management Mohammad Hout the companies’ situation.
