Introduction to the evening news 07-12-2012

After a cruel night, cautious calm prevails over the city of Tripoli following the deployment of the Lebanese Army in Syria Street, awaiting tomorrow, the expected date for the arrival of the first batch of bodies of the Talkalakh group.               

Meanwhile, Syria witnessed three main developments; the first was the call of the National Council on the world to take necessary steps to prevent any potential catastrophe resulting from the use of chemical weapons. The second development is the declaration of armed opposition groups the formation of a unified leadership in Turkey. The third development is an on-the-field one as the regime brought ground reinforcements to the capital’s surroundings, while the rebels declared Damascus International Airport a military target.               

However, the repercussions of the Syrian crisis continue to affect Gaza Strip where Hamas Movement continues to “reap the fruits” of distancing itself from the Syrian regime. Today, the Movement’s leader Khaled Meshaal returned to Gaza for the first time since 45 years.            

The Arab Spring continues in Tunisia where the government entered in confrontation with the syndicates.                 

Similarly in Jordan, a protest was held in order to “topple martial laws”.              

In Egypt, the second revolution continued after the opposition rejected the call of the President Mohammad Morsi to hold national dialogue.
