Caretaker Health Minister Abiad heads to Washington

Caretaker Health Minister Firas Abiad headed on Sunday to Washington in order to participate in the sixth Annual Health Financing Forum, that will be held by the World Bank between June 14 and 16 under the title “Financing Primary Health Care,” at the head of a delegation that includes Chargé d'Affaires of the Lebanese Embassy Wael Hashem and Head of the Primary Health Care Department at the Health Ministry Randa Hamadeh.

 

Abiad stressed that “this is taking place while the major countries and international institutions are preoccupied with the events in Ukraine and other global crises as well as their repercussions on global energy and food security.”

 

He then said that “the required reforms in Lebanon are proceeding at a slow pace, which obstructs calls for further investments and support.”

 

The participation in the sixth Annual Health Financing Forum on financing of PHC will be an occasion to search for new partnership opportunities, with the aim of supporting the efforts of the Lebanese Health Ministry in order to enhance and expand primary health care offerings in Lebanon.
