REPORT: The Christmas Spirit triumphs in Tripoli

Despite the security situation which prevailed recently in Tripoli, the Christmas spirit spread throughout the city with residents lighting up the Christmas tree in the al-Mina Street.
The 19-meters high tree is made up of a ton of iron and other metals. It is lit by hundreds of meters of light series and decorated with colorful ornaments.

Young men who volunteered to set up the tree said that it took them 40 days to build and decorate it.

On the sound of Christmas songs which reverberated in many streets of the capital of the north, both Muslims and Christians gathered in the Municipality Street to light the tree.

After lighting the tree, speeches focused on the importance of coexistence in a city which has seen little peace during the past few years.
