Abou Faour: Syrian and Palestinian refugees' stay will only be temporary

Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abou Faour reassured all Lebanese on Monday that the Palestinian displaced from the Yarmouk camp will only stay in Lebanon temporarily, revealing an agreement reached with Palestinian factions to secure “a prompt and safe return of displaced Syrians and Palestinian families to the Yarmouk camp as soon as security is restored.”

Following a meeting at the Grand Serail held to discuss the issues of Syrian refugees and mainly the Palestinian families who were displaced from the Yarmouk camp, Abou Faour said that the plan set by the government in this regard was widely accepted.

“The main burden is still the issue of health; the state needs clear arrangements in this regard,” he said.

In turn, the head of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee Khaldoun al-Sharif announced that the total number of displaced from the Yarmouk camp did not exceed 3,000, adding that the numbers are not as the media had been sensationally portraying.
