Bassil lashes back: Is loving the Lebanese more than the Syrians or Palestinians a crime?

Energy and Water Minister Gebran Bassil lashed back at accusations activists had launched against him whereby he was dubbed a racist for calling for the regulation and shut down of the Lebanese Syrian border. In a statement Bassil said that a grave danger faces a nation when it prefers foreign nationals over its own.

“Is loving the Lebanese more than the Syrians or Palestinians a crime?” Bassil wondered, adding that Christians and Muslims must work side by side to face issues threatening the country.

On another issue, Bassil considered that the best gift for the Lebanese people would be the government declaring the results of the tender held for over oil sector, adding that the latter has been placed on the government’s agenda of discussions.

On energy, Bassil said that the plan for electricity was subject to delays and obstructions adding that the date for the arrival of the power producing vessels has now neared.
