Qabbani cancels call for Higher Islamic Council elections

Grand Mufti Mohammad Rashid Qabbani canceled on Thursday his decision issued on the 25th of November 2012, in which he called for electing a new Higher Islamic Council on December 30th 2012.

In this context, An-Nahar Daily published that the Mufti will only be postponing the elections without extending the mandate of the current council, whereby the remaining four days of the deadline will be devoted for discussing the elections’ procedures and the role of the current council.
