Jumblatt calls for transparent investigation in Arsal incident

Progressive Socialist Party Leader MP Walid Jumblatt reiterated on Tuesday its support to the Lebanese Army.

Jumblatt called for conducting a transparent investigation that defines responsibility and prosecute the violators according to legal procedures, away from revenge.

Jumblatt added that any attempt to stirring confrontations between Arsal residents and the LAF aims at inciting strife and disturbing stability.Jumblatt then urged the Lebanese citizens to support the Lebanese Army "not by blocking roads and exploiting the case for political purposes but by stressing that the LAF is a national reference to all Lebanese."

Separately, Jumblatt praised the Lebanese judiciary's warrant in absentia against Syrian Maji. Gen. Ali Mamlouk who is accused of planning assassination plots in Lebanon with former Minister Michel Sahama, and said that it proved the involvement of the Syrian regime in plots inside Lebanon. He called the judiciary to finalize this case and not to cover it.

Commenting on Judge Hatem Madi's request to lift parliamentary immunity from MP Boutros Harb, Jumblatt stressed the independence of the law authorities and need to keep them away from political polarization.
