Introduction to the evening news 14-02-2013

The commemoration of the 8th anniversary since the assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri stole the spotlight from the latest events and developments that are accumulating and multiplying without having any chance of reaching a solution. The ongoing war in Syria is one example as its latest repercussion was the assassination of a senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Hussam Khosh Nuweis known as "Hassan Chateri".

In Lebanon, the issues are becoming more complicated, especially that of the parliamentary electoral draft laws, over which the debate has returned to its primary stages, amid abundance in proposals and rarity in agreements.

On the other hand, a new issue has emerged concerning the exportation of fuel oil and gas to Syria, where the political interests interfere with the commercial interests without imposing any control over them.

However, the most volatile file is represented by the ranks and salaries pay scale. While Tuesday was scheduled as a date for the next cabinet session expected to discuss the file, the Syndicate Coordination Committee declared that it will kick off its open ended strike on Tuesday.
