Souaid to LBCI: I refuse the Orthodox Gathering draft law

March 14 Secretary General Fares Souaid reiterted today during an interview on LBCI his rejection of the Orthodox Gathering draft law which according to him "undermines the national unity in Lebanon."

Souaid considered that head of the National Struggle Front Walid Jumblatt abandoned his alliance with March 14 when he said that the security of the Druze' are above all considerations.

Souaid noted that Hezbollah will certainly lose should the regime of Syrian President Bachar Assad fall, stressing that the party is trying to maintain leverage by supporting the draft law.

The March 14 Secretary General asserted that the Kataeb and Lebanese Forces parties' unity over the Orthodox Gathering draft law does not change their rejection of Hezbollah's weapons in Lebanon, saying that the Orthodox gathering law does not harbor consensus among all Christians. He also asserted the necessity of executing the elections on the constitutional date.
